| Is day care a right choice for my
dog?
It depends on your dog's temperament and social skills.
If they are friendly to other dogs when you take them
for walks or in the park, then they will be fine at day
care. If they only get along with certain dogs (ie alpha
males or females), we will group them together with those
dogs so they can still spend the day playing. We recommend
day care to all social dogs and especially young dogs
and breeds with high energy levels. This way they can
let it all out and exercise during the day, and not all
at once when you get home from work
What is the schedule for the dogs that stay
overnight?
They will play with the day care dogs from 7 am to 8
pm with breaks for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Then they
retire to their own individual, open air room from 8 pm
until 7 am the next morning. Some dogs may get "homesick"
if they are not used to being away from home. If this
occurs, our dog loving staff will give them extra personal
attention and do everything possible to make their stay
a more comfortable one.
How will day care effect my dog?
You may notice that your dog is tired at night and sleeps
through the night. This is normal because they are active
all day, just as you or I would be tired after an active
day. Dogs new to daycare may experience temporary changes
in eating habits. Some new dogs will not want to eat during
the day while they are playing, but will be hungry when
they get home in the evening.
At what age should I bring my puppy in to try
day care?
You can start our day care as soon as your puppy is old
enough to have all the required vaccinations, usually
around 4 months old. While some can be nervous at first,
puppies tend to adapt the quickest and do very well in
day care.
